FAQ / Questions

Who Hires a Life Coach?

All types of people hire a Life Coach, but they all have similar things in common:

  • They want to grow and learn.
  • They want to stretch their present boundaries.
  • They want their lives to work better and easier.
  • They are open to include someone else in the process.
  • They are committed to creating results in their lives.

How will I benefit with you as my Life Coach?

Your benefits will depend on what you want to create and what you are prepared to invest in yourself and your progress. Typically, people who I’ve coached experience the following results:

  • More focus and clarity
  • More joy and fulfillment
  • More vitality and energy
  • More freedom
  • More money
  • Better decisions in all areas of life
  • Connection with their authentic self
  • A balanced life that works
  • Improved physical and emotional well-being

What's the difference between Coaching and Therapy?

Coaching isn't about "fixing" you. It doesn't deal with past issues and how you got to be who you are today. Therapy attempts to "peel back the onion" to get to the root or core of the person. Life Coaching explores new ways of being and thinking, new ways of taking action. Life Coaching focuses on who you are and where you want to go.

What's the difference between Coaching and Mentoring?

Coaching isn't about giving you the answers. It doesn't rely on the experience and history of the older, wiser more experienced mentor. Life Coaching invents the future based on the possibilities you discover and declarations you make. Unlike a mentor who provides the "wise opinion," a Life Coach clears the way out of confusion but doesn't ever control what shows up.

What's the difference between Coaching and a Friend or Spouse?

Friends and spouses can be a good source of love and support. But Life Coaching is more than a good heart-to-heart with a friend. Life coaching is about enabling your growth and joy. A Life Coach brings an objectivity that a friend cannot provide. A Life Coach holds you accountable for following through on your actions. A Life Coach helps you discover your authentic self to give you the freedom to act consistently with what is essential for you.

What's the difference between Coaching and Teaching?

Teaching traditionally focuses on improving your knowledge and skills. Life Coaching is about asking questions and allowing you to discover your own answers, not copying the answers of the teacher. A Life Coach is not someone who knows how to do something better. A Life Coach is someone who expands your possibilities and provides you with the capacity to take new actions that would not be possible without the observations and interventions of the Life Coach.

Can't anyone coach?

Life Coaching is a specialized discipline. A Life Coach is experienced in effective communication and interpersonal skills and supports your growth. While anyone can "dabble" at coaching, not everyone can practice effective Life Coaching.

How do I know coaching will work for me?

You won't know until you try. If you are not satisfied with the results, stop. But if you are committed to becoming your authentic self and creating more in your life, Life Coaching will work for you. Ask yourself, "What is the cost of not living my life on purpose?"

How long does coaching take?

That is really up to you and what you want to accomplish. I recommend that you make a commitment to Life Coaching for at least 3 months in order to really experience the benefits and to firmly establish some positive progress. Of course, you are completely free to cancel the coaching partnership at any time that it ceases to meet your needs.

I'm doing okay. Why hire a Life Coach?

No one "needs" a coach, but almost everyone who is trying to accomplish something in their life can benefit from one. A Life Coach does for your soul what an athletic coach does for your body. You have someone to keep encouraging and challenging you to move beyond your perceived limitations, to bring out the best within you and help you achieve results beyond your expectations of what is possible!
