Who I Am
Carmen A. Rivera, M.Ed.
Present, caring, loving, intense, passionate – these are some of the words used to describe me.
My journey to discover what it means to be fully alive, leads me to work with people in creative and fulfilling ways.
I have taught parenting to parents, counseled troubled families, facilitated workshops to empower managers and employees to work more effectively with each other, and coached individuals in living extraordinary lives.
My work in the human relations field provides me the honor of guiding people in all walks of life to lead more joyful, authentic, and meaningful lives.
I am most passionate about helping individuals get in touch with their own sense of personal power -- to find the answers within themselves to deal with the issues and challenges they face. I am committed to providing the support each person needs to feel good about whom they are, to get in touch with their own passion, and to lead lives from love and choice rather than fear and helplessness.
My purpose is to create a trusting space where each client will align their emotions, thoughts, language and actions to generate more zest and joy in their living.
In my career as a trainer, consultant, speaker and Life Coach, I work with leaders and individuals of major corporations, federal government agencies, municipalities, non¬profit organizations, and universities.
My workshops on interpersonal skills touch the lives of thousands of individuals throughout the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Europe, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
I founded Applied Training International, Inc., a training and consulting firm in 1986 in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. In 2002, I changed the name to NewInSights, Inc. to embrace the addition of Life Coaching to its services. Around the same time, I moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, where I enjoy warm days and balmy nights close to the beach.
I love to travel and do so frequently. I have been to 46 states, Canada, Mexico, many islands on the Caribbean, most of Europe, Hong Kong, and several South Pacific islands. I was born in Puerto Rico and lived in Panama, France and Germany during my childhood.
In the course of my life I raised four children who have always been a source of inspiration and growth. I am now learning from my grandchildren.
My formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree, in Sociology and Psychology, and a Master of Education degree, in Guidance and Counseling. I'm a certified Conflict Resolution Mediator, trained Life Strategist, and a certified Coach of the Newfield Network. I am a member of Coachville and the International Coach Federation.
